Business Wales - export assistance

SCI has years of experience working with the Welsh Development Agency, International Business Wales and now, the International Department of Welsh Government. A legacy of business export programme experience that include; International Trade Development, Learning Journeys, 'Meet the Buyer', Export Assist, Inward and Outward Trade Missions, International Trade Opportunities and Access Wales.

• International Trade Development is an ongoing programme of domestic assistance to companies to ensure readiness to export. SCI continues to provide many businesses with advice on all aspects of international trade supplemented by target market research and identifying routes to Market.  In addition, SCI is on occasion, commissioned by Welsh Government to undertake specific market research both domestic and international to help inform future government policy.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

• The Learning Journeys Programme enabled groups of Chief Executives to visit top companies in overseas markets to learn from International Best Practice.  Key elements included country selection, identification of companies applying best practice and the arrangement of the visits. 

 

• Inward and Outward Trade Missions identifying potential trade fairs, events and international interest appropriate to sectors of Welsh Business. SCI recruits businesses for participation, plans the logistics and accommodation and sets up meetings where appropriate.

 

• International Business Opportunities utilised an extensive network of overseas Associates to assist Welsh businesses in identifying potential agents, distributors, partners or commercial outlets for their products or services. The Associates provided assistance with subsequent in-market visits. Through meetings with both Welsh Assembly Relationship Managers and Welsh businesses, in-house consultants would establish the requirements of the Business and engage the services of the overseas Associates accordingly. This programme was superseded by the International Trade Opportunities programme in which SCI plays an active role assisting over 100 business.

 

• The Export Assist programme provided a comprehensive service to businesses within the convergence area of Wales. The services undertaken included one to one advice, workshops and seminars as well as inward missions that included the Meet the Buyer programme.

 

• Thailand Board of Investment utilised the services of SCI Director Gerard Opel to identify UK businesses interested in exploring the opportunities for establishing business in Thailand. Seminars were arranged together with one to one meetings with visiting representatives from the Thai BOI.
